F.A.Q

Is a quote required? Free?

Absolutely. It's an extremely easy process which takes 5-10 minutes. Together, we'll do a walk around of the property to mutually determine the most efficient way of clearing and cleaning the estate. We can discuss any specific requests or questions you may have. D.E.S will offer advice on how to best approach the situation, making the entire process easier for you and your family. Once the walk around is completed, you will receive your free no obligation quote via email within 24 hours.

How are your quotes based?

Property size and layout, work involved, the number (and size) of chattels to be removed and how; auction, donation or refuse and the proximity of these locations. Other factors include; site access, how clean, messy or cluttered the estate is, the urgency required to have it completed and of course, any specific client requests. Having vast experience in this industry, you get to know what it takes and the costs involved pretty quickly for comparable sized estates and the work involved.

What happens to all the chattels?

We determine what (if any) value each item has and load them into our vehicles accordingly, for either selling / auctioning, donating or refuse. We are quick but careful. If we spot sentimental items we believe your family would cherish that you may have overlooked, we will contact you immediately.

While the emptying and cleaning of the estate takes around 1-5 days, selling and auctioning of your items can take 1-4 weeks to complete. After 1-4 weeks we will deposit the profits into your nominated bank account along with a breakdown of sales.

D.E.S take a 25% commission / finder's fee for our efforts in locating the best prices for your chattels. Industry standard is 25% - 30%. We have found by taking a little extra time, we net a much better profit for our clients. The 25% covers our dedication and time in achieving our clients the best price possible. Full details of sales will be provided.

How long does D.E.S take to empty and clean an estate?

It depends on the size and layout, how clean the estate is and the work involved / requested. D.E.S are efficient and thorough and complete the requested work done in a timely fashion without sacrificing quality. As a ball park, an average condition 3-bedroom home = 2-4 full days. For larger homes, 4-5+ bedrooms, multiple bathrooms = 4-6 full days. During this time frame, D.E.S turn a fully furnished estate and tired garden into an empty and clean saleable property.

Absolutely not! While we highly recommend cleaning the interior of the house after removing all the furniture and consider it a must when selling, it isn't required. Same with lawns and weeding, etc. We are more than happy to customise every job to suit whatever our clients request.
